Our Little Blue-boy
Our little guy is a bit jaundice and so he has to go through Phototherapy. He looks super-cool with his shades & hat under his tanning light (not really, but it looks like it doesn't?).
3 Generations of Kvenild Men
It's been 26 years since there was a picture of 3 generations of Kvenild men. My Grandpa Kaare passed away in 1982 so there hasn't been a chance to get a picture since then. But on June 29th, we had that chance once again. So, here we are again; 3 generations. Grandpa Kaare is watching from Heaven and hopefully he's pleased with what he sees. So, here's Kaare (1980), Ken (1947) and Quintin (2008) Kvenild.

A few more pics of The Mighty Quin
Quintin Irving Kvenild - 6/29/2008
Our little guy decided to come a week early (maybe we're switching due dates with the Berge's - sorry Sara!). The name was a compromise: I wanted to name him Quinn, Michelle wanted a longer name so we compromised. Irving was my grandpa's name so we gave that name in honor of Grandpa Irv - I think he'd be OK with that. Anyway, here he is! All 6lbs - 1oz, 19 1/2 inches long of him!

NO BABY AND A SPECIAL MESSAGE
Well, no baby yet. Well, he's here but not out in the world yet. He continues to cause him Mom pain in the ribs due to well-placed kicks, but Michelle is doing just fine. We'll see what happens this weekend. It wouldn't surprise me if he decided to show up the weekend that my whole family is out of town at my cousin's wedding. But he'll come when he wants to, it's out of our hands - only God knows what date will be our son's birthday. We did pick a name, and unfortunately it's not Bruce Wayne. Try as I might his Mom would not give in. "I don't want my son to be named after Batman," was Michelle's response. Well, I will say this, I'm going to have a lot of leverage with that name if he happens to be born on July 18th which is the release date of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight. If that happens, God will be telling us that Bruce Wayne should be his name, much like the angels told Mary & Joseph to name the baby Jesus - haha - just kidding! I can't believe I just compared my son to Jesus; that will be the only time ever!!!
On a personal note, I wanted to post a message to my cousin Ben. Ben is getting married this weekend (June 28) to a wonderful gal named Sara. I was supposed to be there with them as a groomsman, but Michelle's doctors advised her not to travel so I'm home with her because I don't want to miss the possible birth of my son. Ben & Sara have been completely understanding during this (we announced baby before they announced a wedding date so we won!). It was an easy decision for me to stay home with Michelle, but it has been hard for me not to feel that somehow I'm letting Ben down by not being there for him. Everybody has told me not to think that way, even Ben has told me that, and I'm now at peace with the choice. I put together a very cool groomsman speech for the reception which will either be read, viewed on video or done live over the phone. I'm excited because it will feel like I'm actually there - in a way. So, I just wanted to say to Ben & Sara that Michelle & I hope your day is everything you had ever imagined. Ben, I know your Mom will be there too watching from Heaven with the greatest smile you'll ever see. We're all very happy for you and proud of you. And hopefully one of your ushers pulled out a stellar victory in the cage-fight to determine my replacement - sweet!

Inching ever so much closer
Well, we're officially 3 weeks out from Michelle's due date. Everybody keeps telling me that it goes really fast and it's here like that. I'm here to tell you that no it doesn't. He can't be here any sooner for me. I'm way to anxious for my son to be here; to hold him in my arms and marvel at God's amazing craftsmanship. And to just have somebody to rub my influence off on (he'll be a professional belcher for sure!) - haha! But more than anything I'm just anxious to be called "Dad." Yesterday was father's day and I watched my Dad and my brother-in-law soak up having a day centered around Dads - they deserved it as they're both wonderful dads. I want to be in that group. I want to be like my Dad who would do anything and everything (within reason of course!) for me and my siblings. Dad worked hard to give us a great home growing up (so did Mom!) and I want to be like that - my Dad is my hero and my inspiration to be the best father I can possibly be.
Michelle is doing really well. She's tired and wants her feet to not be puffy, but she's pulling through. I really think she wants him out just as much as I do. Not just to hold him in her arms but because she's getting uncomfortable. Still, she's more gorgeous every day I look at her. I'm in awe of her and how she's handled this. I could never do it - I'm man enough to admit I'd suck at being pregnant :) My wife is an amazing woman who is going to be a first-class mom.
We'll put some more pictures on later - maybe Michelle will even write something and not me - haha! I really wanted to put up a pic of Michelle showing off her belly but she vetoed it, so I'll describe it. Imagine if you will, Michelle standing with a profile view showing her stomach, then you look beyond her and the TV is on, and on the TV the show "Dirty Jobs" is on. I took this picture at just the perfect time because perfectly positioned on the TV screen, right by Michelle's stomach is the face of Mike Rowe (host of "Dirty Jobs") giving a very exasperated look. It's hilarious, but my wife is a spoil-sport. Oh well, so it goes. We're working on a good pic of her "big-ol-belly" as she likes to refer to it because we've had requests from Taiwan. Until then, keep us in your prayers for a safe and healthy delivery.

Our blog is here!!!
First let me say to my sister, Kris . . . You better be happy about this! Michelle & I decided to set up this blog at the consistent urging of my sister. Kris and her family live in Taiwan and this is how we see her kids grow up. So, she wanted it from us (my other sister, Kim, has one too).
So here it is! The Kvenild Funhouse is on the air . . . sorry, on the web. We'll try our best to keep you posted on the latest and greatest from us. For starters, we've got just over a month until Michelle's due date (July 7th) and our son, Bruce Wayne Kvenild (not really, but I can still hope) enters the world. At some point we'll put some pictures up here for you all to see, but I don't have the time to do that now because my lunch break is almost up.
So stop by and see us sometime! Leave a comment if you want, maybe we'll read them - haha!
